Let’s talk about two lucky survivors of the sinking of the unsinkable – 3e CHABLIS

Let us talk about the incredible lifestory of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposedly unsinkable « ship of dreams », the RMS Titanic.

First of all, from 1820 to 1920, lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. Indeed, in 1912, some British families chose to travel onboard the Titanic. It was also the case of Esther and Benjamin Hart the parents of young Eva.

Eva Hart is the survivor we’re going to talk about. She was born in 1905 and she passed away due to natural causes at the age of 91 years old in 1996. She was only 7 years old when she boarded the so-called unsinkable Titanic. In those days the « ship of dreams » – like people used to call her – was very popular due to her huge size and due to her luxurious facilities : onboard there were 4 electric elevators, a swimming-pool, a gymnasium, a Turkish bath…

Eva must have been blown away at the sight this majestic liner even if she was from the Bourgeoisie and boarded as a 2nd class passenger. Indeed the ship was divided in 3 social classes : the top was reserved for the 1st class – the whealthy people – as it was the most luxurious part. The middle of the liner was reserved for the middle-class, the Bourgeoise, called the 2nd class. And, last but not least, at the bottom was the 3rd class, the poor people who had the less luxurious facilities – quite an upgrade from their daily life nonetheless.

On April 10th, in 1912, Eva Hart left Southampton onboard this gigantic steamboat, with 2200 other people, passagers and crew, to go to New York, America, the promised land where anything was possible. Unfortunately the Titanic never arrived.

On the 4th day of her cruise the presumed « unsinkable ship of dreams » hit an iceberg at 11:40 pm in the middle of a peaceful night. It must have been a shock for Eva. Indeed the impact of the Titanic on the iceberg must have been quite violent. After the crash, the radio operators sent a SOS call to other nearby boats while the other part of the crew organised the rescue of the passangers by putting them in lifeboats.

Speaking of which, surprisingly, there were only 20 lifeboats onboard, given that according to the president of the White Star Line, it was an ugly waste of space on the promenade deck. Moreover the lifeboats didn’t leave with 60 people on their board – as they were designed to – but only with 12. Eva was among the lucky few who got into a lifeboat on time. She must have been frightened and very confused. She probably didn’t understand why people were saying the ship was sinking though she had always been told the Titanic was unsinkable. She probably didn’t see the use to board such a dreadful raft. She also probably didn’t understand why she had to leave her dad on the sinking boat. Indeed because of the « ladies and children first » protocol, her dad had to stay on the liner and became a doomed victim of this tragedy.

On April 15th, at 00:18 in the early morning, only 38 minutes after the crash with the iceberg, the Titanic sank deeply into the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. At that time, Eva was somewhere around it, in the dark night, shaking both out of coldness and fear.

After 2 long hours, Eva saw a boat coming up to them. It was the Carpathia, a nearby boat who received the Titanic’s SOS. Sadly she came too late and could only save Eva and some other 700 souls.

A week after she arrived safely in New York with her grieved and widowed mother and the other lucky survivors.

Ultimately Eva lived a long life with both an incredible and tragic backstory who cost her her dad’s life.

Let us write about the incredible lifestory of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposly unsinkable « ship of dreams », the RMS Titanic.

First of all, before going any further, we must tell the RMS Titanic also nicknamed « the unsinkable ship of dreams » was a tremendously luxurious and modern steamboat. Indeed, she had many facilities onboard – such as a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a Turkish bath, many libraries and, quite impressive at that time, four electric elevators ! The Titanic was created in 1910 and launched on 1912.

She left Southampton on April 10th 1912 to go to New York but unfortunatly crashed into an iceberg at 10.40 pm two days later, and sank deeply but surely into the cold waters of the Atlentic Ocean. Sadly there were only 700 lucky survivors because of the «ladies and childrens first» protocol and the suprisingly 20 lifeboats.

Frankie Goldsmith and his mother Emilie Alice Brown were among the 700 passengers who boarded the Carpathia that night. They were two of the lucky survivors of the tragedy. What started as a dream ended in a tragedy. They were onboard because they wanted to make a new living in America. Indeed, from 1820 to 1920, lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. Indeed 1912, some British families chose to travel on the Titanic. As 3rd class passengers, the facilities onboard were a real upgrade from their usual life in Strout where they had lived since Franlie was born on December 19th, 1902. America offered a better future…

Both Emily and Frankie were rescued on the Carpathia, but Frank had to stay behind. We may be wrong but we guess Emily fell in love in America as she got married in 1920 and had 3 sons.

Frankie died in 1982 from natural causes.

Let us tell you about the incredible history of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposedly unsinkable « ship of dreams », the RMS Titanic.

The lucky survivor was Eva Hart. She was born in 1905, which made her seven year old during the infamous cruise. Her parents, Ether and Benjamin
Hart were living in Ilford, Essex in England but chose to drastically change their life. Actually, the family boarded the Titanic because they ere planning on emigrating to Canada. Indeed, from 1820 to 1920, lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life : the new continent was considered a land of prosperity, where you were supposed to rise from rags to riches. In 1912, some british families chose to travel on the Titanic.

Her family and she travelled as 2nd-class passengers so her family was quite wealthy. She must have been very excited to explore the luxury ship. She must have been so astonished by the facilities. She couldn’t believe her eyes ! Indeed, the RMS Titanic was a real masterpiece : the facilities onboard were both gorgeous and state-of-the-art.

Sadly, the supposedly unsinkable ship of dreams hit a huge iceberg two days after her departure. Surprisingly she sank deeply in only thirty-eight minutes. Unfortunately Eva’s dad died in the tragedy but her mother and she survived. Her world was shattered from then on.

She died in 1996, of natural causes.

Well, let us talk about the incredible life story of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposedly unsinkable «ship of dreams» the RMS Titanic.

First of all, before going any further, we must say the ship of dreams was an incredible masterpiece. When Eva Hart boarded the Titanic she was only seven years old. Indeed, she was born at the beginning of last century in 1905 in Ilford, England. She boarded with her parents Ether and Benjamin Hart, to immigrate to Canada insofar as from 1820 to 1920 lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. In 1912, some British families chose to travel on the Titanic and that is why Eva’s parents chose to travel onboard this liner.

At first sight, the family must have thought the Titanic quite huge. She was quite incredible and the facilities were impressive : there were electric elevators, libraries, Turkish baths, and even a swimmingpool ! We cannot be sure, but we suppose Eva must have been quite in awe and excited. This luxury ship was very modern. On the other hand, from her 2nd class she could see the first class, and she could even go there.

Now, let us move on to the sad tragedy of the so called unsinkable « ship of dreams ». The supposedly unsinkable ship hit an iceberg at 11.40 pm in the middle of a peaceful night on April 14th 1912. Only 2 days after her departure ! Indeed, the liner left Southampton on April 10th, and was supposed to steam to America, with 2200 passengers and the crew aboard.  Unfortunately, the rest is History. The Titanic sank deeply into the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean eighteen minutes after midnight, on the 15th. On the day of the sinking 700 people only were rescued by the Carpathia, who arrived too late. Surprisingly, the Titanic’s crew sent the new SOS distress call so The Carpathia didn’t understand this new signal as they were used to the more common CQD message.

That night, Eva lost her father. Benjamin Hart died in the tragedy because of the protocol «children and ladies first », leaving behind a grieving widow and a fatherless child.

Eva died of a natural cause in 1996 after a long life.

Let us tell you about the incredible lifestory of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposedly unsinkable « ship of dreams », the RMS Titanic.

Before going any further, we need to explain the social context of the era. From 1820 to 1920, lots of immigrants from Europe went to the USA to start a new life. In 1912, some Bristish families chose to tranvel on the Titanic. Frankie’s parents chose to board the White Star Line steamboat to rise from rags to riches.

Thus, we are going to talk about the fortunate story of Frankie Goldsmith during the sadly famous jouney of the « ship of dreams ». Indeed, what started as a dream turned into a tragedy : the supposedly « unsinkable ship » sank deeply into the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of America.

Frankie was born at the begining of the 20th century in Strout, in Kent, on December the 19th 1902. With his mother, he went to America to make a new living. We cannot be sure but we reckon they wanted to make a new living in America, where anything was possible. The Goldsmith family was quite poor : indeed they only could afford two tickets for the 3rd class commodities whereas they were three in the family. Frankie, his father Frank and his mother Emilie Alice Brown.

When the little kid saw the titanic, he found she was imposing : the steamboat was huge. He must have liked the 3rd class facilities and he would go to the common room to talk with his new friends. Though he never saw the first class luxurious facilities we know he apreciated the wealth of this journey. His narrow cabin was much better than his old house in Strout.

But, unfortunately, though luxurious she was, the huge boat hit an iceberg on April the 15th at 11:40PM, in the middle of a peaceful night. 18 minutes later, she sank and two hours int the night, the « unsinkable ship of dreams » had completly vanished. There were only 700 survivors : thanks t the « ladies and children first protocol Frankie and his mother boarded one of the 20 lifeboats.

He arrived in America two day later onboard of the Capathia. His father had to stay behind and probably died in the icy waters of the Ocean.

He married in 1920 at 18 years old and had 3 kids. He managed to turn his life over and got quite wealthy. He died from natural causes in 1982.

Let me tell you about the story about the incredible ship of dreams. First of all, from 1820 to 1920, lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. In 1912, some British families chose to travel on the Titanic. But you might wonder « what is the Titanic ? » Okay so let me present the famous Titanic.

The Titanic was a luxury ship, called most of the time « the ship of dreams » or even « the insinkable ship ». Onboard, there were four electric elevators, a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a Turkish bath and many libraries. She was run by Captain Smith and his crew. She had three classes : The Wealthy (1st class), The Middle class (2nd class) and then the Poor (3rd class).

Moving on to April 10th 1912. Along with 2200 other passengers, a British family boarded the Titanic – surely, to immigrate to America – the Hart family ! But their real reason for this trip was to immigrate to Canada. In this family, there were Eva and her beloved parents. They were quite a wealthy family and they boarded as 2nd class passengers.

Let’s talk about Eva now. Eva was the only child of Ether and Benjamin Hart. She was born in 1905 in England in the city of Ilford, Essex. You must have heard that the Titanic got something wrong right ? Let me explain what happened. After Eva and her family (and the 2200 souls) boarded, the Titanic steamed to New York. But on April 14th at 11.40 pm, the tragedy began… The ship crashed into an iceberg… The radio operators telegraphed all nearby boats an SOS call. But it was too late when The Carpathia – the rescuing ship – arived. the Titanic sank on April 15th, 18 minutes after midnight. The Carpathia rescued only 700 people and Eva and her mother were rescued… but not her father. Benjamin died on the Titanic as she was sinking, along with some 1500 poor souls.

Eva died in 1996 of natural causes.

From 1820 to 1920 lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. In 1912 some British families chose to travel on the Titanic

The ship of dreams was the nickname of the Titanic : she was supposed to be unsinkable and was 269 meters long.  She left southampton on April 10th 1912 with 2200 passengers and crew onboard. Two days after, at 11:40 pm the Titanic crashed into an iceberg. They were only 20 lifeboat and most were not full. Only 12 passengers first boarded the lifeboats, though they were designed for 60. On april 16th, 18 minutes after midnight, the Titanic sank into the Atlantic. Sadly there were only 700 people rescued.

Well, let us talk about the icredible life story of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the suposedly unsinkable « ship of dreams » the RMS Titanic : Eva Hart.

First, she was born in 1905 and she died in 1996. Her mother Ether and her father Benjamin got married in Ilford located in Essex, where little Eva was born. They left Ilford to go to Canada. We cannot be sure but we assume they must have suffered from famine on the old continent. They were from the bourgeoisie but were not very wealthy and had to buy second class ticket to board the « ship of dreams. »

Eva’s father died because of the « ladies and children first » protocol.

Let us talk about the incredible life story of a lucky survivor of the sinking of the supposedly unsinkable “ship of dreams”, the RMS Titanic.

First of all, from 1820 to 1920 lots of immigrants from Europe went to America to start a new life. In 1912, some British families chose to travel on the Titanic to reach the Promised Land. Eva’s parents, Benjamin and Esther boarded the liner alongside 2200 other dreamers.

Before going any further, it is relevant to mention the Titanic was supposedly the best liner ever built. She was really luxurious: there were 4 electric elevators, a swimming pool, a Turkish bath, a library and a lot of other incredible facilities. No wonder people called her “the ship of dreams”. She was.

On April 10th 1912, Eva Hart commuted from Ilford to Southampton with her parents, Ether and Benjamin, to board the “unsinkable”. Eva was only 7 years old and with her family, she was supposed to go to America to start a new life in Canada : they left Ilford for ever. They would never go back… Indeed, they did not have a lot of money but Benjamin managed to purchase 2nd-class tickets.

The ship was ruled by a strict hierarchy, similar to social classes at that time. On board, the Wealthy were in 1st class and the poor in 3rd class. The 3rd class was not allowed to go to the other decks but the 2nd and 1st class had the possibility to explore the higher decks and enjoy the two spacious promenade decks.

Unfortunately, only two short days after her departure, the ship of dreams hit an iceberg at 11:40pm in the middle of a cloudless night. 2200 passengers and crew had to be evacuated. It was nearly impossible to save everyone because there were, surprisingly, only 20 lifeboats, given that, according to the president of the White Star Line (Bruce Ismay)… it was an ugly waste of space on the promenade deck !

Because of the “children and ladies first” protocol, Eva’s father died in the tragedy. I suppose both Eva and her mother must have been devastated : on April 15th, eighteen minutes after midnight, the ship sank deeply into the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Sadly, 700 passengers only survived ! They were rescued 2 hours after the crash by the Carpathia, a small steamboat and arrived in New York a week later with many bad memories.

Eva died naturally in 1996.
